David Wayne Yager Jr., known to many as “Toe Joe,” passed away on September 16, 2025, in Enville, Tennessee, at the age of 40. He was born on November 29, 1984, to David Wayne Yager Sr. and Gayle Emison.
David loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing from morning to night. He also enjoyed hunting and woodworking, but fishing was his true passion. His faithful little Shorkie, Waylon, was always by his side, making the perfect pair.
David is survived by his wife, Jessica; his daughters, Rachel Yager and Madison Yager; and his granddaughter, Addy, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his mother, Gayle Emison; his sisters, Sarah Clayton and Crystal Emison; his brother Dylan Yager; and his nieces and nephews, Alaina, Lilah, Everett, Emma, Julian, and Amelia. He was preceded in death by his father, David Wayne Yager Sr.
David will be remembered as a family man who loved simple pleasures—time outdoors, time with loved ones, and the kind of peace that comes from a quiet day of fishing.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 PM at Associated Family Funeral Home in Adamsville, and again on Friday, September 19, from 11:00 AM until the service. A celebration of David’s life will follow on Friday at 2:00 PM in the Adamsville Chapel of Memories at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Milledgeville City Cemetery.
