Debbie Jo Alvarez, 70, of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 10, 2025. Born on August 11, 1954, in Stuttgart, Germany, on a U.S. military base, she was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene Turner and Bernice Ericksen Turner.
Debbie had a heart full of warmth and a gift for making others feel at home. She was known for her love of cooking and baking, always ready with a homemade treat and a smile. Whether through a comforting meal, a kind word, or a listening ear, Debbie devoted herself to bringing joy to others. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family—she was a “mom” to many, offering love and guidance to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her children: Timothy Alvarez, Richard Reyes (Anne-Marie), Amanda Alvarez, Lisa Reyes, and Marylynn Theis; her cherished grandchildren: Kate Nelson, Michael Theis, Maddie Theis, Lilijana Reyes, Ellasandra Reyes, and William Reyes; and her great-grandchildren: Ben and Olivia. Debbie also leaves behind her dear brothers, Barney Turner and Sam McCrum, the father of her children, Apolinar Alvarez, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will continue to honor her legacy of kindness and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Bernice, and her brothers, Ray Turner, Douglas Turner, and Mark Turner.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 60 Jaggers Lane, Savannah, Tennessee.
