Mr Gary Lipford age 72 passed away in Selmer, Friday January 16, 2026 at Selmer Post Acute. Gary was born April 21, 1953 in Savannah to William Carl and Sarah Lucille Moore Lipford. Gary was the youngest of 10 children and grew up in the Leapwood community. He graduated from Adamsville High School in 1971. In 1976 he met his lifetime partner wife Jennie Sue Sweat Nash. They were together 49 years and raised two sons. Milton Allen Nash and Michael Shane Nash. Gary was an over the road truck driver for Aqua Glass for almost 30 years. He then worked for McNairy County Highway Department. His favorite job was when he bought his own gravel truck and would help fix driveways for people. Gary loved camping with family and friends. In his younger years he loved to ride horses and go on the river boating. He was a member of Falcon Baptist Church where he was a trustee.
Gary leaves behind his wife Jennie, his sons Milton Nash and wife Seandee, and Michael Nash and wife Brandie. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Marcus Nash and wife Autumn, Mollie Melton and husband Ryan and Ben Nash and Haydn Nash, 5 great grandchildren that he loved dearly, his sisters Mary Sisk and husband Illey, Fran Jamison and husband Harry his brothers Danny Lipford, Allen Lipford, and Sammy Lipford.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Lucille Lipford, his father and mother in law Roy Dee and Jewel Sweat. 2 sisters, Janie Gray and husband Tommy, and Betty Hester, 2 brothers Billy Lipford and Bub Lipford and wife Pat, 1 very special sister in law Ann Sweat.
Funeral Services are at Falcon Baptist Church on Sunday January 18, 2026 at 3pm. Visitation will be from 1pm until service time. Burial in Falcon Cemetery.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to employees on 400 hall at Selmer Post Acute, and to Phyllis West for her loving care. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family ask for donations be give to Falcon Baptist Church or Falcon Cemetery in memory of Gary.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sweat, Nick Inman, Drew Hearnberger, Bradley Gray, Billy “Cowboy” Maness, Ty Huckabee and Chad Essary Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, his friends at Aqua Glass Trucking and Anthony Henson.
Our family at Associated are very honored and grateful to have been chosen to serve the Lipford family Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
