Gary Wayne Sanford, 74, of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at his residence. Born on December 4, 1949, to Robert and Ava Sanford, Gary spent his life embracing simple pleasures and sharing cherished moments with his family.
Gary had a deep love for fishing and a passion for good food. While it is difficult to fully capture the spirit of his life in words, those who knew him well will remember the joy he found in casting a line and savoring a meal with those he loved. Above all, Gary cherished his time with his wife, Mary Ann Sanford, and his extended family, making countless memories that will be held close by those who survive him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Sanford; his children, Kenny Foust (Michelle) and Lisa Ann Benson (Gaylon); his grandchildren, Bobby Locke, Jake Benson, and Victoria Cardin; and his six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and friend, David Bonee, and his sister-in-law Barbara Franks and her husband, Tommy Franks and a special Nephew Hank Pedigo. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ava Kent, and his grandson Matthew Locke.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Associated Family Funeral Home in Adamsville, TN. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery in Savannah, TN, where military honors will be presented at the graveside to honor Gary's service to his country.
Gary’s love for his family, his passion for fishing, and his simple joy in life will be remembered by all who knew him. His presence will be dearly missed.
