George Bumpous Jr. Obituary

George Edward Bumpous, Jr., age 75, passed away on June 14, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1950, to the late George Edward Bumpous, Sr., and Opal Verneta Bumpous.

George was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing and was well known for his years playing softball. A dedicated third baseman, George was a familiar sight on the ball field, often taking the field with a ham sandwich and a pack of cigarettes tucked beneath his hat. Those memories, along with his sense of humor and love for the game, will be cherished by all who knew him.

Most of all, George loved his family and enjoyed spending time with those he cared about. His presence, stories, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his loved ones for years to come.

He is survived by his daughter, Theda Bumpous; his son, Jonathan Bumpous; his grandchildren, Rien Bumpous, Aaron Bumpous, and Kingston Bumpous; his great-grandchildren, Kayson Bumpous and Kinzley Bumpous; his brother David Bumpous, and his nieces, Tonice Brashers and Lakeisha Hopson.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Edward Bumpous, Sr., Opal Verneta Bumpous;  his sisters, Dineta Williamson and Debra Barnes, and his nephew Rufus Hopson Jr.

Though he will be deeply missed, the memories George leaves behind will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who loved him.
