J S Hughes, age 90 passed at his residence on Sunday Aug 31st.
J S Hughes was born on August 7, 1935 to Earl and Ethel Irvin Hughes in McNairy County TN. In 1952 he joined the United States Navy where he served his country in the Korean War.
After coming home from the Navy he married Emma Jean Russom in 1956, who preceded him in death in December 2001. J S worked for the Brown Shoe Company and was a supervisor for the City of Crump before retiring. J.S. dedicated his life to the Lord, April 2, 1982 and his life was forever changed.
J S married Martha Moore Kelly in February of 2002 and she survives. He went home to be with his Lord on August 31, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones and loving wife Martha. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy his wife, daughters Delbra Stacy, Madonna Austin, Patti Jarmen (Wayne), Rachel Murphy (Jerry), and Deedee Shelton. He also leaves his grandchildren Shelia Marie Stacy, Cagle Murphy, Hunter Jarmen, Hailey Tate, Stephanie Bonds, Cason Murphy, Abbi Wren Murphy, Trinity Murphy, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
J S is preceded by a brother Robert Earl Hughes, and sisters Lou Jane Eubanks, Lena Mae Martin, Martha Nell Chadwick, Ruby Zimmer, Mary Helen Cook and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services for J S will be Thursday Sept 4th at 11 am at House of Mercy Pentecostal Church in Morris Chapel with burial in Old Union Cemetery in Adamsville. Visitation will be Wed Sept 3rd at House of Mercy Pentecostal Church from 5 until 8pm and again on Thursday 9am until service time.
Pallbearers will be Cagle Murphy, Jerry Murphy, Hunter Jarmen, Bobby Bishop, Less Cass, Steve Turnbow. Cason Murphy will serve as honorary pallbearer.
