James Kirk Obituary

James Arthur. “Jimmy”  Kirk, age 72, of Selmer, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at Post Acute in Selmer following a brief illness.

Born on April 20, 1953, in Painsville, Ohio, James was the beloved son of the late Arthur Kirk and Mattie Lorianne Turner Kirk. A graduate of McNairy Central High School, Jimmy went on to lead a hardworking life, dedicating many years to laboring in cotton gins and at a pallet factory in Ramer.

Jimmy was known for his love of conversation—never one to meet a stranger—and for his fondness of classic westerns, which he could watch for hours on end. He had a big personality and an even bigger sense of humor. A lifelong jokester, Jimmy found joy in pranks and in playfully aggravating those he loved, always with a sparkle in his eye and a laugh not far behind.

He is survived by his daughter, Chrystal Lands of Byers, TX; stepdaughter, Sarah Davis of Byers, TX; his brother, Charles Kirk (Debbie) of Walnut, MS; sisters, Sheila Ingle (Larry) of Selmer, Barbara McDonald of Ramer, and Judy Curto (Ernie) of Williamsville, NY. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Lands, Jaxson Unwin, and Liam Unwin, all of Byers, TX; and step-grandchildren, Brooklen Davis and Kylee Davis.

Services celebrating Jimmy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Chapel of Associated Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at noon and continue until service time. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Baptist Cemetery in Selmer, Tennessee.

Jimmy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His laughter, warmth, and unshakable spirit will live on in the memories of those he leaves behind.
