James Robert “Jamie” Dilday
November 18, 1973 – August 16, 2025
James Robert “Jamie” Dilday, age 51 years, 8 months, and 29 days, passed away at his home in Pontotoc, Mississippi, late Saturday evening, August 16, 2025.
Jamie was born on November 18, 1973, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Jane Whitten and the late Jimmy Dilday. Throughout his life, he worked in several factories, including Foamex Fiber and Praxis. He also received emergency response training and devoted his time as a volunteer firefighter for both the Enville and Leapwood Fire Departments. Jamie was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Beech Bluff, TN.
He loved watching NASCAR races, cheering for Alabama football and the Tennessee Titans, and spending time with family and friends at the Tennessee River. His family will always remember him for his quick wit and great sense of humor, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and most of all, his deep love for his children.
Jamie is survived by his mother, Jane Whitten; his children, Matthew Dilday (Heather) and Alyssa Rainey (Wesley); his brother, Mark Dilday (Sunny); three step-grandchildren, Mason, Mabry, and Marlee; and a granddaughter on the way, Magnolia Jane. He also leaves behind his aunts Joan Massey, Jan Johnson (Danny), Betty Greer, Doris Childers, and Barbara Harrison, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Dilday; his stepfather, Mack Whitten; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his uncles, Billy “Catfish” Massey and Tim Harris.
Services celebrating Jamie’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Associated Family Funeral Home in Adamsville, TN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and again on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time.
