Jeri Ann Sweat, affectionately known as "JJ" by those who loved her, passed away on May 6, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital at the age of 53. She was born on July 13, 1971, to James Sweat and Betty Louise Sweat.
A lifelong resident of the Selmer area, JJ worked as a bookkeeper in the family business and was known for her kind spirit and deep devotion to those closest to her. Family was at the center of her world. She enjoyed relaxing with her favorite TV shows, listening to music, and spending time with her cherished dog, Gibbs.
She is survived by her fiancé, Joey Troutt; her brother, William G. Sweat (Mona L. Sweat); her sisters, Laura Forsythe (Wayne) and Heather Louise Sweat; and her nieces and nephews: Gracie Johnson, Elaina Johnson, Dusti Gage (Andrew), Alisyn Gage, Martin Gage, William Boyette, Andrew Boyette, Shawn Johnson, Jasper Manley, Lucas Sweat (Haley), and Raylan Sweat. She also leaves behind many beloved friends and extended family members.
JJ was preceded in death by her parents, James and Betty Louise Sweat.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Associated Family Funeral Home in Adamsville. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM and continue until service time. A private burial will follow at Falcon Cemetery.
JJ will be remembered for her gentle heart, steady presence, and the love she shared so freely.
