John Rickman Obituary

John William Rickman passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at AHC McNairy County, just one day shy of his 77th birthday, following a lengthy illness.

Born on June 5, 1948, in Hardin County, Tennessee, John was the son of the late J.D. Rickman and Beulah Hindmon Rickman. He grew up with a deep love for sports, especially baseball, and carried that passion throughout his life. A graduate of Ramer High School, John went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army, completing a tour in Germany.

He spent his career at Owens Corning Fiberglass, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. In retirement, John found joy in the outdoors, particularly in the peaceful hours he spent fishing with his brother on the Tennessee River.

John is survived by his beloved daughter, Jessica Rickman, a son, Jay Rickman; his sister, Sue Bevis (Ray); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him for his kindness, quiet strength, and deep loyalty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wallace Rickman; and his sister, Hester McClain (Junior).

Services celebrating John's life will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories at Associated Family Funeral Home in Adamsville, TN. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Stantonville, TN.

Please note there are four Mt. Zion Cemeteries within McNairy County.

From Selmer, take Hwy 45 S. Turn left in front of Walmart on Hwy 142. About 5 miles. Turn left on Mt Zion Lane. Cemetery is just off the Highway but you can’t see from road. If you go to Stantonville City limits sign - you have gone too far.

Our family at Associated are very grateful and honored to have been chosen to serve the Rickman family.  Our sincere condolences to you all in this time of mourning.   May God extend his comfort in your time of grief.
