Larry Watson Obituary

Larry E. Watson, 82, of Stantonville, Tennessee, passed away on January 29, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on January 30, 1943, in Memphis, Missouri, to Elman and Gertie Watson, Larry lived a full and vibrant life defined by hard work, humor, and heart.

A proud veteran, Larry served honorably in the United States Army. Following his military service, he spent his working years as a skilled journeyman carpenter—a trade that reflected his industrious spirit and his love for working with his hands. Larry never could sit still for long, always finding a new project or a reason to reorganize his garage or shop—usually daily.

Larry's life took him from Illinois to Florida, and finally to Tennessee, where he spent the past 15 years enjoying the peace of the outdoors. He was endlessly curious and enthusiastic about World War II history, classic cars, and tractors. Whether tinkering with engines, sharing a laugh, or indulging in his favorite Oreo cookies, Larry brought joy to those around him with his signature wit and energy.

One of Larry’s greatest delights was chauffeuring his beloved cocker spaniel, Friday, around on his golf cart—a simple pleasure that brought him endless joy.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; his children Pamela Ewing-Esmond of Loves Park, IL; Sandy Offill (Alan) of Stockbridge, GA; Jeff Watson (Notcha) of Walls, MS; stepchildren Brian Pauley (Kay) of Winter Garden, FL, and Beth Brunner of Brodhead, WI. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Josi, Jenna, John, Sabrina, Zach, Jake, and Jordan, and 13 great-grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his sister, Mary Dawson of Knoxville, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Merlin Watson, Stanley Watson, and Bob Watson; and his daughter Cynthia Watson.

A service celebrating Larry’s life will be held at Shiloh Methodist Church, 275 Restricted Confederate Road, Shiloh, TN 38376, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Jonah Lusk officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service.
