Lilly Martin Obituary

Lilly Faye Martin, 68, of Whiteville, Tennessee, passed away on February 26, 2026. She was born on August 28, 1957, to the late Harry Franklin Martin Jr. and Birdie Mae Goodman Martin.

Lilly Faye was a light in the lives of all who knew her. Though she faced many hardships throughout her life, she never allowed them to dim her spirit. She met each day with resilience, warmth, and a heart full of love. In 1985, she gave birth to her only son, Richard Lynn Martin. He preceded her in death in 2011, and we find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with him.

Faye had a deep love for Elvis—if his music was playing, you could count on her to be dancing. She loved helping others, spoiling her nieces and nephews, and most of all, she loved Jesus. A member of First Baptist Church in Whiteville. Her faith was steady and simple, carrying her faithfully through every season of her life.

She was known for her familiar and comforting words to her siblings: “I’m alright, Barbara,” “Okay, Terry,” and “Yes, Shirley.” Those little phrases will echo in their hearts forever.

Faye is lovingly survived by her sisters, Barbara and Shirley (Jeff), and her brother, Terry (Connie). She was deeply cherished by her aunts, who played a tremendous role in her life, especially after the loss of her parents. Aunt Girlene was her backbone, always there whenever Faye would call. Aunt Christine faithfully took her shopping and to appointments in Jackson. Aunt Earlene watched over her and made sure she was always okay. Aunt Dorothy was her special “let’s go to the cafe” aunt, sharing simple joys and sweet moments together. She is also survived by her Uncle Johnny (Linda), who was always there to give her a ride to the fish fry, and Uncle Earl, who kept her laughing.

She leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews: Greg, Ann, Meredith, Loretta, Josh, Jessica, Tabitha, Timothy, T.J., and Anthony; her great-nieces and great-nephews: Megan, Wednesday, Kathleen, Roscoe, and Ellie; and her great-great-nephew, Little Frank.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Lynn Martin; her nephew, Terry Frank Martin Jr.; her brother-in-law, Thomas Herman; and a host of aunts and uncles.

Lilly Faye’s life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of sweetness and strength—and a reminder that even the simplest words, “I’m alright,” can carry the deepest meaning. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
