Linda Dettrie

March 6, 1951 – January 25, 2024

Linda Pickens was born March 6, 1951, in Adamsville, TN to Leonard George and Ruby Lee Pickens.

Linda was a proud resident of Adamsville, TN. She was known by many. She went to school in Adamsville, where she later dropped out to help support her family. She done anything from picking cotton, worked at Garan in Adamsville, TN, sewing clothes, worked as a CNA, and was a tow boat cook for Southern.

She was loved and known by many. She wore her heart on her sleeve and helped anyone she could. She was always the one to tell you that it was going to be okay.  Many known her as momma, because she was everyone's momma. She accepted everyone, but if she didn't agree with or like what you were doing, she would be the first to tell you.

She talked often about the people she loved dearly. She was very known at Piggly Wiggly in Adamsville, TN. She talked about her “kids” often about how much she loved them. Especially the meat department, men Eddie and Blake.

A few people she talked often about were Carol and Bill McGee of Stantonville, TN, Angie Maness of Savannah, TN, Sue Montgomery of Bethel Springs, TN, Amy Roland and  the team at Life Span in Adamsville, TN, Penny Smith of Adamsville TN, and many others to name.

She enjoyed fishing, gambling, playing on her iPad, baking desserts, and playing with Ms. Lilly, her granddaughter's cat. She enjoyed watching Yellowstone, NCIS, and anything with Sam Eliot or the Dwayne (Rock)  Johnson in it.

Fishing was always her favorite activity. She always told stories about the men, “boys” ,as she would call them;  that she cooked for while she worked on the tow boat.  Another thing she really enjoyed was selling produce with her sister, Clara and brother-in-law,  Jimmy, and then loading up to go to Tunica for the day.

She had two children and grandchildren she loved dearly. Tommy Pickens (Deceased) of Adamsville, TN and grandson, Dylan McVicker of Adamsville, TN, and daughter, Tina Pickens of Adamsville, TN and granddaughter Mikalyn Hadley of Stantonville, TN.

Linda departed this life on January 25, 2024, in Adamsville Tn at the age of 72.

She is survived by daughter, Tina Ann Pickens of Adamsville, TN, and 2 grandchildren, Dylan Mcvicker of Adamsville, TN, followed by 2 great grandchildren and Mikalyn Hadley and husband, Jesse Hadley, of Stantonville, TN, brother, Ray Pickens and wife Rose of Adamsville, TN, and 3 sisters, Clara Bearden of Adamsville, TN, Wanda Naylor of Adamsville, TN, and Joann Osborne of Louisville, KY and a host of externed family and friends she held close.
