Madeline Gardner Obituary

Madeline Gardner passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024, at Jackson General Hospital at the age of 84. Born on February 18, 1940, in Buffalo, NY, Madeline was the beloved daughter of the late Arnold Lundquist and Josephine Ruedi Lundquist.

Madeline was a classically trained musician, a talent she generously shared with numerous churches in her community. Her dedication to her faith and her music was most prominently displayed at First Presbyterian Church of Savannah, where she spent many years accompanying services with her beautiful music.

Beyond her musical talents, Madeline was an avid sewer and quilter, creating intricate pieces that reflected her patience and creativity. She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like playing card games with friends and family.

Madeline is survived by her three loving children: daughters Amy Welch (Andrew) and Laura Pickett (David), and her son, Wylie Gardner. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Eric Gardner, Jason Gardner, Nicolas Welch (Courtnie), Brian Welch, Rebekah Pickett, and Hannah Pickett, as well as her great-grandchildren, Dominick Gardner and Devin Gardner. Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James David Gardner, her brother, Richard Lundquist, and her sister, Jocelyn Ingram.

A memorial service to honor Madeline’s life will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 5:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Savannah, located at 207 Tennessee Street, Savannah, TN. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until the service begins. Associated Family Funeral Home is honored to assist the Gardner family during this time of need.
