Neal Thomas Largent, 51, passed away peacefully at his home in Clinton on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Born on October 17, 1972, in Hastings, NE, Neal was the cherished son of Dennis Gene and Judith Anne Kimes Largent. He grew up in a loving family in Jackson, MS, where he developed a passion for sports, creativity, and making lasting friendships.
Neal's life was marked by his unique blend of creativity and practicality. He played youth baseball and church softball, and later, he enjoyed golfing, playing pool, bowling, and entertaining friends and family. His inventive spirit led him to co-patent a new engineering method for shower drains, showcasing his innovative thinking.
He attended Forest Hill High School and earned an Associate's Degree in Mortuary Science from Holmes Community College. Neal worked as the Assistant Plant Manager at United Plastics Molders, Inc., where his leadership and dedication were highly regarded.
Family was at the heart of Neal's life. He was a devoted husband to Wanda Causey Largent and a loving father to Sean Prentiss Largent of Bolton, MS, and Julia Leslie Largent and Sara Elizabeth Largent, both of Clinton, MS. His granddaughter, Emilie Elizabeth Largent, held a special place in his heart. Neal also leaves behind his parents, Judy and Dennis Largent of Cantonment, FL, his sister Melissa Lynn Largent Lu and her husband Hai Van Lu and their children Haden Van Lu and Haines Van Lu of Cantonment, FL
Neal was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Sara Kimes and Dorothy and Jack Largent; his uncles, Steve, Bob, and Mike Largent; his aunt, Anita Christine Kimes Spitz; and his uncle, Danny Platt. Despite these losses, Neal’s enduring legacy is carried on by his surviving family and his extensive network of friends.
Known for his love of animals, Neal always had a pet by his side and instilled this affection in his children and granddaughter. He was passionate about Nebraska Football, the New Orleans Saints, and USM sports. However, his greatest joy came from watching his children’s activities, from baseball, volleyball and football to band competitions.
Neal's friendly nature and willingness to help others defined him. He never met a stranger and made lifelong friends wherever he went. His competitive spirit shone through in his love for card games, cribbage, and spirited debates.
A Celebration of Neal’s Life will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM.
Neal will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, friendship, and innovation will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
