Roy Neal "Spud” Gray, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 26, 2025, just one day shy of his 68th birthday. He was born on January 27, 1957, to Jack Gray and Elizabeth Treece Gray. A lifelong resident of the area, Roy was a devoted member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Adamsville.
Roy found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing on the Tennessee River, riding his side-by-side to take in nature and wildlife, and spending time at Gray Brothers Tire Shop, where he was always ready with a joke or a playful tease. His infectious smile and lighthearted spirit made him a cherished presence among family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Haynes Gray; his daughter, Crystal Austin (Blake); and his grandchildren, Kasen and Keaton Austin. He also leaves behind his brother, Dale Gray (Nancy); his sisters, Betty Ashe (Danny) and Doris Leonard (R.B.); and his sisters-in-law, Earline Gray and Gail Gray.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gerald Gray and Larry Gray.
A service celebrating Roy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Good Hope Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until service time. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
