Shirley Faye Frye, age 74, of Luray, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on August 23, 2025.
She was born on June 3, 1951, to the late Jessie Lee Wilbanks and Eloise Hopkins McDaniel. A native of McNairy County, Shirley made Luray her home for the past 20 years, where she built a life filled with family, friendship, and love.
Shirley found her greatest joy in being with her children and grandchildren. She was deeply devoted to her family, and her home was always a place of warmth and welcome. She was also very active in politics, enjoyed reading, and treasured her time spent alongside her husband Terry as they set up together at the flea market.
She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Frye, and her children: Brian West (Candace) of Middleton, TN; Perry Crowell (Amanda) of Phil Campbell, AL; Perry Frye (Rachel) of Savannah, TN; Barbie West; Stormy Barnes (Jim) of Russellville, AL; and Heather Thomason (Marcus) of Adamsville, TN. She leaves behind 22 grandchildren—including two very special grandsons, Trent Miller and Dakota Frye—and 16 great-grandchildren.
Shirley is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Hall (Tommy) of Medon, TN, and Regina Burkeens of Bethel Springs, TN, along with her sister-in-law Joan Wilbanks of Pocahontas, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara Taylor, and Barbara’s husband, Grady, of Ramer, TN; her brother, Wayne Wilbanks of Pocahontas, TN; and her grandson, Tyler Hasley.
Services celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in the chapel of Associated Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
Shirley will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to her community, and her strong and independent spirit. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
