Archie Willis “Will” Godwin, 89, of Crump, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Adamsville Health and Rehab following a brief illness.
He was born April 5, 1936, to Grady Godwin and Nipsie Marie Young Godwin. A lifelong resident of the Crump area, Will was self-employed for much of his life and proudly owned and operated Godwin’s Gulf for many years. Earlier in life, he was an outstanding athlete and baseball player, once scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He worked as a carpenter by trade, but his true passion was raising, training, and showing Tennessee Walking Horses. Will also enjoyed farm life, caring for his goats and pigs, riding horses and four-wheelers, attending walking horse shows, and working word search puzzles. In his younger years, he was an avid coon and deer hunter. Above all, he enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and spending time with family. He was a Christian.
He is survived by his daughters: Kimberly Smith (Eddie), Susan Jones, and Gina Rainey (Lee); grandchildren: Matt Ferguson and Bethany Mutters (Shawn); great-grandchildren: Kaylee Ferguson, Whit Hutton, and Willow Grace Mutters; and siblings: Ollie Godwin Gremmels and Lonnie Godwin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Nipsie Marie Godwin; siblings Deloise Godwin Morris and Cecil Godwin; and his son-in-law, Tyson Jones.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clear Creek Baptist Church, and again on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, with Chuck Castles officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
