Wilma Hopper Drace, born on June 3, 1927, to Chessie and Deller Ganus Hopper, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at AHC in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 97.
A lifelong resident of the area, Wilma attended First Baptist Church in Crump, where she was known for her steadfast faith and dedication to her community. She was a homemaker who took pride in her family and home, but her generosity and love extended far beyond. One of her greatest joys in life was sewing, particularly creating handmade pillows that she gifted to family and friends. Her warm hospitality was paired with a love for good food, which she cherished sharing with others.
In her later years, Wilma's heart grew even larger as she dedicated her time to caring for others. She frequently visited the sick and elderly in nursing homes, offering comfort and companionship to those in need. Her boundless compassion and loving nature touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for her kindness and unwavering desire to help others.
Wilma is survived by her son, Gary Stanfield of Adamsville; her grandson, Wes Stanfield; her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Noah, and Raylan; her brothers, James “Buck” Hopper of Crump; her sisters, Linda Parks of Olive Branch, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chessie and Deller Hopper; her sisters, Cathleen Armstrong, Fay Sowell and Dee Williams; her brothers, J.C. Hopper; her husbands, Truman Stanfield and J.D. Drace; and her granddaughter, Whitney Stanfield.
Wilma’s legacy of love, kindness, and service to others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her gentle spirit, her acts of generosity, and the warmth she brought into every room she entered.
